The Oregonian Lesbian Roomate

Image
How do you personally feel about living with roommates? Do you currently have any roommates? 0,1,2,3 or more? In family life , the roommate count is always changing and evolving. You've got the 2 parental units, along with the growing, random influx of female sister, and new brother roommates. I was the eldest sibling of 4 kids. At one point, I was living upstairs in a home, with 5 people total residing in that same home. Imagine the "BRADY BUNCH" 50's era color TV sitcom, with 2 less sisters. Overall I enjoyed my family upbringing and sibling roommate situations. Think Free laundry, rent, bills and food. We got all along merrily. Sometimes in Senior High School, since I lived upstairs, I would perform late night sneaks with girlfriends to my upstairs "LOFT". Moving forward to my college days, while living at the CASTILLIAN, adjacent to the DRAG and University of Texas campus, I basically had 3 roommates. We 4 humans, shared 1 common toilet and sh

Keep Running the Floor.

Here's a taste of life advice, told and explained in a unique way . My Southstreet Seaport, NYC Model Abercrombie and Fitch Managers would always remind and bark at me to "Run the Floor!" Perhaps this is a retail trick and requirement for clothing store, fashion workers. Our Downtown FI-DI retail clothing store was a legit, large 2 story structure. There were both male and female clothing sections. Our A&F store was happily bipartisan for the sexes. Hmm, so "Run the Floor" . What does this mean? It means keep going. It means keep moving. It means keep your head and your eyes up . Customers will see you. You will see problem areas of the store to fix, tidy, and work on. When you RUN THE FLOOR, you gaze at all that is happening around you. Part of the customer experience for Abercrombie & Fitch patrons is to enjoy the human, attractive, "EYE CANDY" working there. The loud thumping music, attractive youthful beauties, and powerful aromas a

The Permanence of Body Tattoos

Image
"Tattoos have become more common over the past couple of decades. A Harris poll in 2012 found that 1 out of every 5 adults — 21 percent — has at least one tattoo. An earlier Pew Research Center study found that the number was closer to 40 percent among those ages 18 to 29." The above quote was derived from the google keyword search, "What percentage of People in general have body tattoos?" How do you, our Sample Spectrum reader feel about the rising prominence and physical display of body art, permanent ink filled and skin stained tattoos? I personally will most likely never, never, ever have a body "art" tattoo needled on me. In actuality, each time I walk past a commercial city tattoo parlor, I cringe with disgust. Needles are NOT my thing. The act of acquiring a Tattoo is a painful procedure. If you are a healthy person, why would oneself purposely inflict nerve pain, for no reason? I just don't get it. I personally have a dating policy whe

A Local's Perspective on Boomtowns

Image
I'm living in a Modern Day American Boomtown! Are you? Goodness gracious, it is both a blessing and a curse. When I had boomeranged back from NYC to my quaint, sleepy hometown of Austin, TX where I was born in 1981 at Seton Hospital on West 38th street. I had expected the smaller city Austin pace and aura to be attached with it. To a certain extent, that has been true. Not totally. Before I left for the big city sabbatical and life adventure, Austin Texas was a regular, bohemian, hippie, alternative, liberal town with pedestrian friendly, family oriented, quirky neighborhoods . There were only 2, yes only 2 Condo developer projects in the Downtown Vicinity. There was the Perry Lorenz designed, Nokonah building on 9th and Lamar, and also the Austin City Lofts on West 5th street & Bowie. At the time of the downtown condo's inception, Austinites' thought urban living was a radical idea. Locals would think, "You mean there are people who actually want to reside,
