Worthwhile Fighting.

I personally have never truly participated in an authentic, enraged, fist throwing, barbaric fight. I have not ever intentionally made a painful, and powerful effort to use my fists, or feet to physically hurt and injure another human. I somehow managed to skip the middle school fighting phase. I have never been "jumped" by a stranger, and as an adult have been street smart enough to abstain from all physical fighting altercations. Good for me, I guess.
Despite my personal clean and barren record, to this moment, I occasionally feel the desire to physically fight and just punch the hell out of another person. Maybe I DO, need to get into a rough and tumble human altercation, just to get it out of my system, and let off some steam. I can empathize and relate to fighters and their innate desire to hurt another person. It happens.
Can physical human fighting be just? Yes, for sure. For example, if one were to fight in self defense, or to save another human's life from danger. Or also, as a man if you were protecting a female or child from a bad guy's wrathful danger. Those are all JUST reasons, in my eye to evoke, protect and commence fighting. In a modern day example albeit sports related, Roughed Odor, a Texas Ranger's Middle Infielder recently punched, and powerfully DECKED the face of the Toronto Blue Jay's Jose Bautista during a LIVE baseball game, with a full audience and camera onlookers on site. After Bautista attempted an injury provoking slide into second base, Odor athletically avoided the slide, and while standing tall, used his fist and landed a glorious, jaw jarring right hook into Bautista's chin. In my humble opinion, Odor was completely just and intelligent to punch the opposing team member in the face. Odor was protecting himself, and standing up for his fellow Ranger teammates. This baseball player's act was a symbolism to Texas pride. Texan resident pride is a real thing. In our history, Texans, along with the help of other Southern Frontiersmen, heroically battled the entire country of Mexico for their sovereign Independence. The Alamo structure in San Antonio, is the most famous historical building icon displaying the state's battle pride.
Can the act of physical fighting be completely wrong, unjust, and criminal? Yes here too! For example, unnecessary rival gang fights are immoral and criminal. Hate induced beatings of homeless, gay, and transgender people is a criminal and awful act. Bar fights are wrong, bothersome and illegal. There are equally as many reasons to engage in FIGHT, as there are TO avoid FIGHT.
Currently, I am in strong deterrence to the modern day, self proclaimed professional sport entitled, "the UFC". UFC is an acronym for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. For people not familiar with UFC fights, they entail 2 humans, with no gloves, engaging in an all encompassing wired cage, fighting with limited rules. Again, their are zero cushion boxing gloves in these fights. The UFC is trying to monetize and sensationalize barbaric street fighting. UFC fights are gory, bloody, painful to watch, and often 3 rounds or less in brevity. The UFC presents an extremely barbaric product to the public. It reminds me of the Roman Empire's Coliseum days, where sporting death was displayed as public amusement. Can you image going back in time, to witness a gladiator fight in the Roman Coliseum? That'd be a trip. I bet those centuries ago events had the potential to give one nightmares and scar the mind.
Despite my overall peaceful aura, and clean no fight record, have the urge to fight other people sometimes. Do you ever feel the urge to fight somebody, Sample Spectrum reader? For example, have you ever wanted to clock one of your enemies, professional competitors, annoying strangers, or dare I say a family member? I have for sure, but for some intrinsic reason, I always seem to bury and refrain from fighting behavior. They say people should not bottle their emotions. Well, I have always bottled up any fighting action urge, I have ever had.
So George, why have you always refrained from physical human fighting altercations? 1. I enjoy my pretty face, teeth, jaw, eyes, and functional body. I do not want to mess up this Adonis figure. 2. Fighting and assault is illegal, under the law. 3. I doubt fighting actually SOLVES anything, as the underlying reasons for a physical fight will still remain, despite the victor.
The moral of the story today on the subject of fighting is tricky. Sometimes fighting is worthwhile and sometimes it is not. I wish there was a more clear cut answer, but there isn't. My suggestion is that in the game of life, pick and choose your battles wisely, if at all.
Peace.
