Worthwhile Fighting.

Image
I personally have never truly participated in an authentic, enraged, fist throwing, barbaric fight. I have not ever intentionally made a painful, and powerful effort to use my fists, or feet to physically hurt and injure another human. I somehow managed to skip the middle school fighting phase. I have never been "jumped" by a stranger, and as an adult have been street smart enough to abstain from all physical fighting altercations. Good for me, I guess. Despite my personal clean and barren record, to this moment, I occasionally feel the desire to physically fight and just punch the hell out of another person. Maybe I DO, need to get into a rough and tumble human altercation, just to get it out of my system, and let off some steam. I can empathize and relate to fighters and their innate desire to hurt another person. It happens. Can physical human fighting be just? Yes, for sure. For example, if one were to fight in self defense, or to save another human's life fro...

The PRIME time of Life.

Image
Let's contemplate and discuss a human's, "PRIME-TIME" of their life. Deion Sanders of NFL football Hall of Fame glory, was officially nicknamed PRIMETIME. His nickname was derived from his exciting play at either cornerback, wide receiver, in the slot, or on punt and kickoff returns. Deion was electric on the field, and had ridiculous breakaway speed! Amazingly he was also a pro MLB baseball player too. What could he not do on a field? When watching Dion, you never really knew what to expect, but a highlight was just one play away. As fellow humans, when do we reach our individual, "PRIME-TIME" in life? While bicycling on the hike and bike trail the other day, an ex ASM real estate client, former Dell employee, and current realtor gave me this advice.... "George, enjoy these PRIME YEARS of your life. They run from 32 to about 38 or so." As I write this today, I am roughly 34.5 years in age. Have I reached my prime's HALFTIME? Person...

Questioning the Law.

Image
What were those old white guys smoking tobacco and practicing slavery really thinking, when they CREATED THE LAW. The LAW is just words, government rules, and one person's interpretation of how society should be governed. The founding fathers of the USA and constitution drafted their self made rules over 3 centuries ago. Should we as humanity in the modern age of transportation, technology, and medicine still really adhere to what graveyard people were thinking over 300 years ago? I think at minimum, society has every right to at least question the law. Are laws just, and righteous? Sometimes. Are Laws inhumane and horrible? Sometimes. I view Governmental LAWS as human crafted rules. They are an attempt to reel in and normalize society. The act and process of creating a LAW, seems unique to me. So....an elected governmental legislator is going to just imagine and write up a regulatory absolute statement, that should then cover all of society and humanity. Every person is...

The Smart Phone Age

Image
Today's economy, society, and social practices revolve around the SMART PHONE. What is a SMART PHONE? If you don't know by now, you are behind the technology curve for sure. The Smart phone is an all powerful, encompassing mobile technology device. This style of phone has the ability to get Wi-Fi Internet, place and receive phone calls, send and read text messages, email, google map locations, and also browse numerous "Apps" or computer like applications. It seems all industries have an APP . There is an APP for News, Facebook, Twitter, Games, Dating, Flashlights, Cab Companies, Food Delivery, and tons more.(Think Tinder, CNN, Uber, Lfyt, Gmail, Favor, Bumble, Instagram and more). If one can envision a reason or cause for an application, It probably exists. The power of the device, is that it allows communication, news, and information to be available to the owner geographically, almost anywhere! It is mobile communication bliss. I have helped clients and te...

The Oregonian Lesbian Roomate

Image
How do you personally feel about living with roommates? Do you currently have any roommates? 0,1,2,3 or more? In family life , the roommate count is always changing and evolving. You've got the 2 parental units, along with the growing, random influx of female sister, and new brother roommates. I was the eldest sibling of 4 kids. At one point, I was living upstairs in a home, with 5 people total residing in that same home. Imagine the "BRADY BUNCH" 50's era color TV sitcom, with 2 less sisters. Overall I enjoyed my family upbringing and sibling roommate situations. Think Free laundry, rent, bills and food. We got all along merrily. Sometimes in Senior High School, since I lived upstairs, I would perform late night sneaks with girlfriends to my upstairs "LOFT". Moving forward to my college days, while living at the CASTILLIAN, adjacent to the DRAG and University of Texas campus, I basically had 3 roommates. We 4 humans, shared 1 common toilet and sh...

Keep Running the Floor.

Image
Here's a taste of life advice, told and explained in a unique way . My Southstreet Seaport, NYC Model Abercrombie and Fitch Managers would always remind and bark at me to "Run the Floor!" Perhaps this is a retail trick and requirement for clothing store, fashion workers. Our Downtown FI-DI retail clothing store was a legit, large 2 story structure. There were both male and female clothing sections. Our A&F store was happily bipartisan for the sexes. Hmm, so "Run the Floor" . What does this mean? It means keep going. It means keep moving. It means keep your head and your eyes up . Customers will see you. You will see problem areas of the store to fix, tidy, and work on. When you RUN THE FLOOR, you gaze at all that is happening around you. Part of the customer experience for Abercrombie & Fitch patrons is to enjoy the human, attractive, "EYE CANDY" working there. The loud thumping music, attractive youthful beauties, and powerful aromas a...

The Permanence of Body Tattoos

Image
"Tattoos have become more common over the past couple of decades. A Harris poll in 2012 found that 1 out of every 5 adults — 21 percent — has at least one tattoo. An earlier Pew Research Center study found that the number was closer to 40 percent among those ages 18 to 29." The above quote was derived from the google keyword search, "What percentage of People in general have body tattoos?" How do you, our Sample Spectrum reader feel about the rising prominence and physical display of body art, permanent ink filled and skin stained tattoos? I personally will most likely never, never, ever have a body "art" tattoo needled on me. In actuality, each time I walk past a commercial city tattoo parlor, I cringe with disgust. Needles are NOT my thing. The act of acquiring a Tattoo is a painful procedure. If you are a healthy person, why would oneself purposely inflict nerve pain, for no reason? I just don't get it. I personally have a dating policy whe...
